Nigeria’s FG Breaks Silence: ‘We’re Watching’ — Reaction To U.S. Visa Restrictions

He emphasized that bilateral relations remain strong despite the restrictions, which target Nigerians allegedly involved in funding or supporting attacks against Christians in the country.

Speaking on Arise Television, Idris stated that Nigeria and the U.S. continue to maintain a healthy working relationship and are collaborating to address any challenges that arise.

He explained, “Visa policies are the prerogative of every country. Governments, whether American, Nigerian, or otherwise, regularly review their visa policies. Given recent tensions, let me stress that government-to-government relations between Nigeria and the United States remain robust. We are actively engaging with the U.S. to resolve any outstanding issues or areas of concern that have caused diplomatic tensions.

“We continue to maintain normal diplomatic relations and are working closely to advance the mutual interests of both nations.”
