The Kano State Police Command has apprehended nine suspects allegedly involved in inter-state trafficking, abduction, and the illicit buying and selling of minors. Gumel explained that the arrests were the result of intelligence-led operations targeting long-standing inter-state trafficking syndicates operating in Kano, Bauchi, Gombe, Lagos, Delta, Anambra, and Imo states. The crackdown led to the identification and dismantling of these criminal networks, which had been active for over a decade.

A total of seven victims, predominantly minors, were rescued from the grasp of these criminal activities, thanks to the diligent efforts of the police officers involved in the investigations. Gumel emphasized that the rescued children, aged between three and eight, were often sold at prices ranging from N300,000 to N600,000, depending on their ages.

During the investigations, it was discovered that a victim named Mohammed Ilya, initially abducted from Bauchi but given the name Chidiebere, was recently sold in Nnewi, Anambra State.

The commissioner pledged collaboration with the state government to ensure the safe return and reunion of all abducted children with their original family members. He reassured the public that the command, under his leadership, had implemented enhanced security measures to eradicate this menace once and for all.
