Barrister Soji Oye, the Director of Information for the NJC, clarified on Sunday that he has not discussed the list of Justice-nominees with anyone and labeled the social media reports as the deliberate work of mischiefmakers.
Oye emphasized that official press statements from the Council, through his office, are the only reliable sources for reports on such matters.
He cautioned against unverified information circulating on social media regarding Supreme Court nominations and the process for filling bench vacancies.
The reported nominations include candidates distributed across Nigeria’s geopolitical zones to address the vacancies arising from retirements and deaths among Justices.
Oye urged the media, especially social media operators, to obtain information from credible sources to avoid misinformation about Supreme Court nominations and the related processes.
