The government clarified that Governor Adeleke merely conveyed the resolution of the House of Assembly and a recommendation for an acting appointment to the Chief Justice of Nigeria for review and action.

Reports had emerged suggesting the dismissal of the Osun State Chief Judge, Oyebola Adepele Ojo, based on the Osun State House of Assembly’s resolution, citing numerous petitions against her.

Pending her appearance before the House, she was asked to step down, and Justice David Olayinka Afolabi was appointed in an acting capacity.

In a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Oluomo.

the government emphasized that Governor Adeleke adhered to legal procedures by informing the Chief Justice of Nigeria about the House’s resolution and recommended an acting appointment for consideration by the National Judicial Council (NJC).

The government clarified that no judicial official has been appointed as Acting Chief Judge, emphasizing the Governor’s commitment to due process, the rule of law, and respect for constitutional provisions.

The public was urged to note that the Governor followed legal procedures and would not act in violation of the constitution.
