Expressing dismay, Dungurawa pointed out the disturbing pattern of sporadic attacks targeting unsuspecting voters, allegedly orchestrated to hinder them from exercising their democratic rights. He further claimed that the deployment of numerous thugs, purportedly hired by the All Progressives Congress (APC), began the night before the election with the clear intent of disrupting the electoral process.

Dungurawa acknowledged the commendable efforts of security forces in safeguarding the lives of people in the affected areas. However, he underscored the concerning influence of external factors attempting to compromise the integrity of the electoral exercise.

In response to these accusations, Zakari Sarina, the Secretary of the Kano State chapter of the APC, refuted the claims that an election had taken place in the state. Sarina went on to accuse the NNPP of essentially hijacking the entire electoral process from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), serving as party agents for both the APC and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). According to Sarina, the NNPP allegedly assumed control of election materials and even purportedly manipulated the results.

The conflicting narratives between the NNPP and APC highlight the contentious atmosphere surrounding the rerun by-election, raising concerns about the fairness and transparency of the electoral process in Kano State.
