According to Ibas, who spoke during a meeting with the newly appointed administrators at the Rivers State Government House in Port Harcourt on Friday, April 11, 2025, the move followed his visits to several local government areas. He observed firsthand the need for grassroots support to effectively implement President Bola Tinubu’s mandate.
He emphasized the importance of accountability, transparency, and public service in their roles, urging the administrators to build trust and drive sustainable development.
Ibas tasked them with prioritizing sanitation, environmental management, primary healthcare, local government staff discipline, education, and youth engagement.
“Since assuming this role, I have toured several LGAs and interacted with civil servants. It became evident that I couldn’t manage the entire state alone under the emergency proclamation issued by Mr. President,” he said.
“After careful consideration, I appointed you all on April 7, 2025, to support the administration at the grassroots. This is a defining moment, and I expect each of you to rise to the challenge as impartial leaders committed to restoring peace, stability, and democratic governance in Rivers State.”
He stressed that their appointments were based on proven leadership capacity, dedication to service, and the need to bring governance closer to the people.
“This administration will not tolerate recklessness, abuse of office, or mismanagement of public resources. Every allocation must be used strictly for its intended purpose,” he warned.
