Speaking from Abakaliki, Isiguzoro emphasized that the South-Eastern region has endured significant losses in past riots and protests, citing instances like the 1978 ALI MUST GO protests, 1989 ANTI-SAP RIOTS, 1993 June 12 protests, 2012 OCCUPY NIGERIA protests, and the 2020 END SARS protests, which resulted in severe casualties and property damage for the Igbo community.

Isiguzoro highlighted that the primary concern for the South-East is the release of Nnamdi Kanu, rather than participating in nationwide protests. He asserted that previous experiences have shown that Igbo lives and properties are often endangered during such protests, making it imperative to prioritize security and well-being.

Therefore, Ohanaeze Ndigbo has advised Igbo residents across Nigeria, especially in the Northern and Southwestern regions, to abstain from joining the protests to ensure their safety. The organization stressed that engaging in protests against President Tinubu would not necessarily yield the desired outcomes but reiterated the importance of Nnamdi Kanu’s release as a crucial step towards addressing regional concerns.
