Nobody Would Japa If Nigeria Worked! – Simi Slams Leaders Over Mass Exodus
Nigerian singer and songwriter Simisola Kosoko, popularly known as Simi, has opened up about her deep affection for Nigeria and her wish to see the nation reach its full potential.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Speaking on the 90s Baby Show, the award-winning artist shared how proud she is to be Nigerian, describing the country’s people as vibrant, resilient, and one of a kind.
According to her, the “Nigerian spirit” is unmatched anywhere in the world, noting that even foreign actors who imitate African accents often avoid the Nigerian accent because of its distinctive character and authenticity.
Simi, however, expressed concern that many Nigerians continue to leave the country in search of better opportunities abroad. She said if Nigeria offered a more supportive and comfortable environment, most citizens would gladly stay.
“My favourite thing about Nigeria is the spirit of Nigerians. You can’t replicate it — nobody else can be a Nigerian other than a Nigerian. Even when they fake African accents in Hollywood movies, they never fake a Nigerian one. They usually go for East or South African accents,” she said.
“Being Nigerian just comes naturally — it feels like home. That’s why I wish the country was better because I honestly believe no one would want to leave.”
