North-Central Zone Plans Grand Reception For Newly Appointed SGF, Senator George Akume

Leaders and prominent figures from the North-Central region of Nigeria are set to organize an elaborate reception in honor of Senator George Akume, the recently appointed Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF). Scheduled for Friday, August 18, 2023, the event will take place in Abuja.

The esteemed occasion will be chaired by former Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar, with another former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon, assuming the role of Father of the Day.

Anticipated attendees include President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who will grace the event as the Special Guest of Honour, state governors, elders from the North-Central region, esteemed traditional and religious leaders, incoming ministers, notable figures from various industries, as well as friends and family of the SGF.

In preparation for this grand gathering, members of the Central Planning Committee (CPC), led by Arch A.A. Oseze and including individuals such as Ezekiel Gomos, Honorable Bisi Abioye, Barrister Maureen Agbo, Hajia Larai Kolo, Honorable Kabir Ajanah, Ambassador Mabdul, Chief Kanayo Okoye, Barrister David Iorhemba, and a representative of the SGF, visited Senator Akume in his office on Thursday. During the meeting, they briefed him about the extensive series of activities that the North-Central zone has planned to celebrate the achievements of one of its esteemed sons.

Expressing his gratitude, Senator Akume shared his delight about being celebrated by his hometown and region. The former Governor of Benue State, ex-Senator, and former Minister was appointed as SGF by President Tinubu shortly after the latter’s inauguration as the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Nigerian Armed Forces.
