NPFL Return Is Our Priority — Amuneke Speaks On Heartland’s Promotion Mission
Heartland technical adviser Emmanuel Amuneke has disclosed that the club’s rebuilding process is still ongoing as the team prepares for the 2026–2027 Nigeria National League (NNL) season.
The Naze Millionaires are scheduled to begin their campaign against Crown FC on Sunday, November 1, with the club hoping to make a strong start in its quest to return to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
According to Bush Radio Academy, Amuneke acknowledged that although his team is prepared to compete, there are still areas that require improvement before the new season gets underway.
He explained that the club’s preparations remain a work in progress, stressing the need to strengthen the squad and address weaknesses as the campaign approaches.
Amuneke maintained that Heartland are determined to compete for promotion but cautioned that achieving their objectives would require patience, consistent effort and a well-structured rebuilding process.
The former Nigerian international also emphasised his desire to see the club return to the NPFL as quickly as possible. However, he noted that lasting success cannot be achieved without following the necessary steps to build a competitive team.
According to the technical adviser, the rebuilding exercise began when he arrived at the club, and he expressed satisfaction that Heartland have now reached a stage where they are ready to compete.
The upcoming clash against Crown FC will provide an early opportunity for Heartland to assess their progress and set the tone for the new NNL campaign as they pursue their ambition of securing promotion to the top flight.
