In an interview from his hospital bed, Muti recounted how he narrowly escaped death. He explained that the attackers mistook him for a soldier due to his camouflage trousers, which he wore beneath his uniform t-shirt.

The incident occurred on Friday at the Federal Housing Estate in the Gbeganu area of Chanchaga Local Government Area in Minna. Muti was using his phone to write a report while riding in a keke tricycle when the hoodlums blocked his path. Two individuals pretending to be passengers stopped the tricycle, only to launch a sudden attack with clubs and knives.

Muti described how he was focused on his writing when the assailants, disguised as passengers, attacked him. One of them stabbed him in the stomach and they stole his phone and other valuables. During the assault, one of the hoodlums noticed his camouflage trousers and shouted, “He is a uniform man, he is a soldier,” prompting them to flee, leaving him injured.

Muti emphasized that it was his uniform trousers that ultimately saved him, adding that, unfortunately, the other passengers had already exited the tricycle, leaving only him and the rider vulnerable during the attack. When reached for comment on Sunday night, Muti confirmed that three of the attackers had been apprehended.
