In a post shared on his Facebook page on Monday, Sanwo-Olu mourned the loss of the deceased and prayed for comfort for Ojelabi during this trying period.
Sanwo-Olu wrote, “I extend my deepest condolences to Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, the APC Chairman in Lagos State, on the passing of his beloved wife, Ebunoluwa Esther Ojelabi. My thoughts are with you during this difficult time.
“Though this is an incredibly hard loss, I encourage you to take solace in the fact that Mrs. Esther Ojelabi led a remarkable life, full of love and devotion. Her warmth, kindness, and spirit touched countless lives, and she will be sorely missed.
“May God grant her eternal peace and provide you with comfort. We share in your grief and stand with you.”
In a separate development, a document has confirmed that businesswoman Aisha Achimugu is indeed under investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), contradicting claims from her camp that the agency is not probing her.
Earlier reports indicated that Ms. Achimugu fled Nigeria after failing to honor an EFCC invitation. Following this, her representatives intensified efforts to deny the investigation, with several digital media outlets falsely quoting anonymous sources who claimed she was not under probe.
EFCC sources informed Premium Times that Ms. Achimugu, a close associate of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, was summoned for questioning on March 5, 2025, regarding allegations of money laundering and involvement in a major investment scam.
A letter of investigation, dated March 4 and signed by Adebayo Adeniyi, the EFCC’s acting zonal director in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, was sent to Ms. Achimugu’s Abuja residence.
