Speaking on Sunday during a thanksgiving service commemorating the second anniversary of the 8th Assembly, held at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Asaba, the governor emphasized the vital role of harmony among the executive, legislative, and judicial arms in delivering meaningful governance.
“Your collective wisdom, diligent oversight, and strong representation have fortified our state and advanced the cause of democracy,” he noted.
Oborevwori praised the lawmakers for fostering progress across critical sectors such as education, healthcare, infrastructure, agriculture, and youth empowerment, while also commending their recognition of divine guidance in their work. He described the thanksgiving service as the most meaningful part of the celebration.
“It’s truly inspiring to witness your acknowledgment of God’s role in your duties. Legislators must continually seek divine wisdom and direction,” he added.
In his remarks, Speaker Emomotimi Guwor described the event as a time of gratitude and introspection, reflecting on the honor of serving over five million people in Delta State. He expressed deep appreciation to God for seeing the Assembly through its second legislative session.
Delivering the sermon, Pastor Olufemi Olumide of RCCG Region 34 stressed the spiritual significance of thanksgiving, citing Psalm 116:16-19. He described gratitude as a divine ordinance that brings restoration and favor.
He cautioned against pride, using the biblical account of Nebuchadnezzar to illustrate the dangers of failing to acknowledge God.
“Thanksgiving acts as spiritual therapy—it purifies the soul of pride, false self-reliance, and folly,” Pastor Olumide stated.
