Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, who represents Anambra South in the Senate, has issued a stern warning to Simon Ekpa, a Biafran agitator. Senator Ubah advised Ekpa to take his sit-at-home campaign to his home state of Ebonyi and refrain from involving Anambra State. Ekpa has been promoting sit-at-home directives in the South Eastern states, despite the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leadership suspending the exercise.
During a stakeholder meeting in Anambra South, Senator Ubah expressed concerns about the negative impact of the unproductive Monday sit-at-home order on security and the economy. He called for an end to the sit-at-home order, beginning with Nnewi.
In his warning to Ekpa, Senator Ubah emphasized that Ekpa, who resides in Finland and conducts his activities there, should not issue sit-at-home orders on Mondays in Anambra State. He pointed out that Ekpa has repeatedly sought his attention but should focus on his own state of Ebonyi, which does not observe sit-at-home directives. Senator Ubah, as an elected representative, stressed that he represents the people of Anambra South and urged Ekpa and others to stop mentioning sit-at-home in relation to Anambra State and Enugu.
Senator Ubah cautioned Ekpa to be careful and warned that he would not engage further on the matter. He suggested that Ekpa and his family should observe sit-at-home in their own village and leave Anambra State alone.
The lawmaker affirmed their decision to nullify any sit-at-home directives and expressed determination to keep businesses in Nnewi open starting from the upcoming Monday. He acknowledged that there may be attempts to sabotage their efforts but declared their readiness to defend against any aggressors who come to disrupt the town.
