The Ogun State Police Command intercepted two trucks on the Ondo Road in Igbeba, Ogun State, transporting 37 stolen motorcycles on Sunday. The trucks, identified as DAF trucks with number plates GYD 44 XB and KTG 56 ZY, were en route to Lagos with the concealed motorcycles. The drivers, Gafaru (28 years old) and Awalu Idris (32 years old), have been detained as suspects.

According to Omolola Odutola, spokesperson for the state command, the motorcycles were hidden beneath livestock inside the trucks, which were purportedly bound for northern Nigeria. During a routine stop and search operation by operatives from the Igbeba Police Division, the concealed motorcycles, mostly used, were discovered.

“Upon investigation, 58 motorcycles were returned to their rightful owners, while 37 remain impounded as we ascertain their true ownership,” Odutola stated. She emphasized the command’s commitment to combatting criminal activities across the state.

The police continue to investigate the incident to uncover further details surrounding the stolen motorcycles and apprehend any additional suspects involved in the crime.
