Temitope Adetanju, a resident of Ogun State, has been arrested by the state police for allegedly assaulting a 12-year-old girl over accusations of stealing biscuits and other items. Adetanju, who was the guardian of the victim, reportedly physically assaulted the minor and inserted a piece of firewood into her genitals. Upon receiving a report of the incident, the local Divisional Police Officer promptly intervened, deploying a juvenile officer to the scene. Odutola stated that the assault took place at approximately 11:00 AM on June 11, 2024.
“The Divisional Police Officer received information that a 12-year-old girl from Isewo Obada Oko was severely beaten and had a piece of firewood inserted into her private part by her guardian, Temitope Adetanju, a 25-year-old woman residing at the same address,” Odutola explained. She further noted that upon arrest, it was discovered that the victim had allegedly stolen biscuits valued at N200, Milo worth N150, and Mr. Fruit worth N300.
Adetanju confessed to the crime and is currently under investigation, according to the PPRO. The investigation is ongoing to further ascertain the details of the incident.
