Okpebholo Responds To Rigging Allegations, Blames Those Who Published Fake ResultsEdo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has accused those who fabricated and announced fake election results on social media during the September governorship election of now crying foul and claiming the polls were rigged. Okpebholo expressed his disappointment that those who had spread false election results are now the ones accusing others of electoral malpractice. He described them as ācriminalsā who continue to waste money and resources on fruitless efforts, adding that they would keep losing in their endeavors.
He said, āI thank the Edo people for the overwhelming support given to our party during the September 21 governorship election. I am grateful for the resounding victory God granted us. I also thank President Bola Tinubu and our party leadership for standing firm and ensuring justice and equity prevailed, which led to our success.ā
Referring to those who had circulated fake results online, he remarked, āThe people who wrote and announced fake results are the same ones crying today that someone rigged the election. Itās sad to see that these criminals are now lamenting their loss. They will continue to lose, wasting time, money, and energy in vain.ā
Okpebholo reiterated that the people of Edo have chosen the path of development, peace, and unity, and that his administration would honor their trust. He said, āEdo people have spoken. They have chosen the path of development and peace, and that is how it will remain.ā
The Governor also expressed gratitude to the Esan people for their unwavering support, stating, āI will not disappoint Edo people. I will not disappoint Esan people. I will do the right thing and ensure justice prevails.ā
The Onojie of Uromi, HRH Anselm Aidenojie II, spoke at the event, expressing joy that an Esan son is now Governor of Edo State. āWe, the traditional rulers of Esan land, went round the State to seek support for producing the Governor, and today itās a reality,ā he said. He also thanked the Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II, for his support.
Jarret Tenebe, the APC state chairman, praised the Governor for his swift action since taking office, noting, āWe are happy to celebrate this victory, and we thank the Edo people for the mandate. Governor Okpebholo has already hit the ground running, and this is how it will be for the next eight years.ā
The event, which celebrated the Governorās victory, was attended by traditional rulers from Edo Central, government officials, party leaders, and many others.
