Okpebholo Reveals New Nickname Edo Residents Gave Him, Says It Brings Him Joy
Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo has expressed satisfaction with what he described as a growing show of affection from residents, revealing that the public has given him a new nickname.
According to Bush Radio Academy, the governor disclosed this during a live broadcast on ITV Radio, where he recounted an encounter with residents while walking along Sapele Road in Benin City.
Okpebholo said residents now welcome him warmly and address him with affectionate names, unlike what he claimed was the situation in the past, when he faced insults and had sachets of water thrown at him.
He revealed that his previous nickname, “Akpako Rescue,” had been replaced with “Okpe’s Baby,” describing the development as a source of happiness and encouragement.
The governor explained that he now feels more comfortable moving around the streets, noting that residents have shifted from hostile reactions to friendly greetings and positive expressions.
During the broadcast, Okpebholo also commended President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms, pointing to changes in the prices of some commodities and developments in the foreign exchange market as indications of improvement.
His remarks have attracted attention, particularly his account of the changing reception he claims to receive from Edo residents and the new nickname they have adopted for him.
