In a statement released to the media on Friday night, he expressed disappointment, claiming that the Ooni is seeking his downfall despite his significant role in helping Ogunwusi ascend to the throne of Ife. Oluwo explained that the path he used to support Oba Ogunwusi’s rise could have been used for Ogunwusi’s elder brother, Tunji Adeyeye, who was a peer and friend of his in Ibadan, but he had underestimated his own position.

He recounted how he organized multiple meetings in Ibadan after one Akin Daodu, a close ally of Oba Ogunwusi, requested his help. To his surprise, the very person he helped to the throne is now allegedly plotting against him.

Oluwo claimed that the Ooni was behind his suspension from the Osun State Council of Obas, a move he says was orchestrated against him despite the AIG being a key witness. He further alleged that the Ooni was working with a few kings in Iwoland to destabilize his region.

He also accused the Ooni of attacking him in front of the Governor, accusing him of discouraging deity worship. According to Oluwo, the Ooni had a role in using his former wife against him and wants him removed as Oluwo by any means. He made it clear that such an attempt would never succeed, declaring, “No one can remove me as Oluwo. No one can kill me or bring me down.”

In response, the Ooni of Ife, through his Director of Media, Otunba Moses Olafare, denied the allegations. He stated that Oba Adeyeye is a king ordained by God, regardless of external actions. Olafare explained that when Oluwo wanted to become a king, the Ooni supported him financially and logistically. Regarding the recent Council of Oba meeting, Olafare clarified that the Ooni’s remark about Oluwo not condemning other monarchs for worshipping deities was made in jest, encouraging freedom of practice among the kings.
