In a statement released on Friday, the acting Ondo Governor commended this move, characterizing it as a well-timed intervention.

He lauded the federal government’s support as instrumental in aiding states to address the challenges associated with providing essential relief for their citizens during these times.

Aiyedatiwa conveyed the sentiments of the National Economic Council (NEC), noting that council members widely praised the President’s prompt response by offering the N5 billion support to each state. The funds are intended to facilitate the provision of food items and agricultural inputs.

While most states have already initiated various measures to mitigate the current situation for their residents, the additional support from the federal government is expected to significantly expand the scope and impact of these measures.

The acting governor assured the people of Ondo State that the funds would be utilized exclusively for their intended purpose.

Aiyedatiwa also directed the Ondo palliative committee to accelerate the implementation of measures previously devised by the state government.

He affirmed that the committee’s efforts had been commendable, citing ongoing initiatives such as free transportation for civil servants and pupils.

The distribution of cash support for vulnerable individuals is also in progress, with disbursement set to commence by the month’s end. The acting governor emphasized the committee’s importance in efficiently utilizing the added support from the federal government to enhance relief efforts for the people of Ondo State.
