The strike, led by the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) and the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers, resulted in the disruption of oil production at various installations across the country.

This disruption, coupled with the daily production volume and the cost of Brent crude on that day, accounted for the significant revenue loss.
