Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Friday, the monarch stressed that traditional institutions are ready to work hand in hand with political leaders to restore stability and improve the country.
He also revealed that the entire South-West region has collectively declared its support for President Bola Tinubu in the fight against insecurity.
The Ooni said, “God has chosen our leader, President Bola Tinubu, to guide us at this time. Traditional rulers are not concerned with politics; our focus is on protecting our people and preserving our heritage.
“That responsibility goes beyond political differences. For us in the South-West, we have agreed to pass a vote of confidence in President Bola Tinubu.
“We must support him to save Nigeria. It is crucial. You condemn one leader after another—so which one will eventually lead? These politicians have been around since the beginning. What have they truly achieved?
“Nigeria is bigger than them. It is not their inheritance; it belongs to the people who live here.
“Why should politicians bring politics into matters of security? Enough of this.”
The monarch further warned against destroying the country for political advantage, insisting that national interest must override personal ambitions.
He added, “The truth is that Nigeria is bigger than all of us, and we must protect everything concerning this country.
“As traditional rulers, we are closest to the people. We see the good, the bad, and the ugly. It has become essential for us to close ranks with political leaders.
“It is clear that they cannot handle this alone. We must work with them. We cannot allow politics to sink the nation.
“Why are we in this mess? Because of politics. There was a time Nigeria was peaceful. You could travel north or south without fear. Banditry didn’t exist as it does today.”
