The incident occurred when Idowu, an Industrial Training student at Yaba College of Technology, visited Adeleye. He recounted, “She came to our house around 5 PM and asked me to repair her phone.” Adeleye described the horrific moment he attacked her: “I just grabbed her, applied pressure… I squeezed her throat until she gave up.”

After the murder, he devised a plan to conceal the body and extort money from Idowu’s mother. Adeleye dug a shallow grave behind his house early the next morning, stating, “I didn’t close my eyes till daybreak.” He then contacted Idowu’s mother, demanding ransom, claiming, “Hello, madam, we have your daughter.”

Through manipulation, he extorted N360,000 from her, initially asking for three million, knowing she wouldn’t have that much. After negotiations, he provided her with a betting account to avoid detection. He later requested an additional N10,000, which the mother claimed was all she had left.
