Speaking on Arise News Morning Show, Oshiomhole emphasized that Nigeria would not entertain any regime or military takeover and criticized the notion that an unidentified group could successfully call for government change.
He praised President Tinubu’s patience and approach to the protests, noting that Tinubu had responded by acknowledging the concerns and advocating for industrial development as a means to address hunger. Oshiomhole remarked, “There is no room for regime change or military takeover. It’s impossible for an amorphous group to demand regime change.”
He also reflected on his own past protests, stating, “At no time did I call for a regime change of government during my protest days; now I see politicians trying to hijack these protests. A peaceful protest can be used to emphasize regime change.”
In related news, Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development Festus Keyamo has criticized those condemning President Tinubu’s response to the #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protests. Keyamo accused critics of having ulterior motives, asserting that they are trying to force the President into negotiating power with them. He stated on X, “Even if Mr. President redrafts his speech a million times, those with nefarious intentions will continue to undermine it to justify their instigation of mayhem.”
Keyamo suggested that the criticisms are part of a larger power struggle and warned that behind the criticism lies a complex power game with hidden agendas.
