Former Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole, paid a visit to President Bola Tinubu at his Lagos residence during the Eid-el-Fitr celebration. Following their meeting, Oshiomhole assured reporters that the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State is unified and prepared for the upcoming gubernatorial election.

Expressing his confidence in the APC’s prospects in the forthcoming election, Oshiomhole, representing Edo North Senatorial District, emphasized the party’s readiness, citing the establishment of a Campaign Council to spearhead the electoral campaigns.

While Oshiomhole exuded optimism about the APC’s chances, he acknowledged that rival parties, including the Labour Party, are grappling with internal challenges. He highlighted the APC’s resolution of primary-related issues and contrasted it with the ongoing crises in other parties.

During his discussion with Tinubu, Oshiomhole briefed him on the state’s political landscape and the party’s preparations for the election. He noted Tinubu’s supportive stance towards the APC’s endeavors but underscored the need for active participation rather than reliance on external support.

Oshiomhole also used the opportunity to extend his Sallah greetings to the president and commend recent positive economic developments. He specifically pointed out the strengthening of the Naira, attributing its rise from a low of 2,000 to around 1,100 against the dollar. Quoting foreign media reports lauding the Naira’s performance in 2024, Oshiomhole highlighted the Central Bank of Nigeria’s effective management of the foreign exchange system as instrumental in the currency’s recovery.

He concluded by acknowledging the impact of the CBN’s strategies in stabilizing the Naira and fostering confidence in the economy, noting the adverse effects suffered by individuals who speculated against the Naira’s recovery.

Oshiomhole’s visit to Tinubu not only underscores political collaboration but also highlights ongoing economic developments and the APC’s preparedness for the Edo State gubernatorial election.
