Oshiomhole Sparks Tension In Red Chamber With ‘Khaki’ Attire, Senators React

Senator representing Edo North, Adams Oshiomhole, has explained why he no longer wears his signature khaki outfits to plenary sessions in the Senate.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Speaking on Arise Television’s Morning Show on Friday, Oshiomhole dismissed speculations that his change of dressing was due to the influence of political power.
The former Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) president revealed that he had been repeatedly cautioned against appearing in khaki at the Senate chamber, as the red chamber has an official dress code.
He said:
“I need to clear the air on this so-called ‘senator wear’ issue. I watched an analysis where someone claimed that power has changed me because I no longer wear khaki. But the truth is, I am not allowed to wear them in the Senate. With all my human rights, I don’t have that right in the chamber. They have a dress code, and I was warned several times—‘this is not a labour office.’ That’s why I had to stop.”
Meanwhile, Oshiomhole is also facing backlash from former Executive Secretary of the National Health Insurance Scheme, Usman Yusuf, over his recent remarks linking insecurity in Northern Nigeria to illegal mining activities.
Oshiomhole had claimed that some influential individuals were exploiting the North’s resources using helicopters to move gold out of the region.
But in an interview with Punch, Yusuf fired back, accusing the former Edo State governor of being part of Nigeria’s problems.
According to him:
“Adams Oshiomhole doesn’t know the depth of insecurity in the North. He is part of the problem in Nigeria. The 10th National Assembly is a do-nothing Assembly; they’ve given the President a free rein without check. They approve loans without scrutiny, which will cripple future generations. If Oshiomhole wants to grandstand to make headlines, fine, but he is just as much a problem as the President.”
