Osinbajo Vs Tinubu: Bisi Akande Reveals The Sh*cking Reason Behind The Showdown!
Bisi Akande, a founding member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has dismissed claims that the late former President Muhammadu Buhari encouraged ex-Vice President Yemi Osinbajo to challenge President Bola Tinubu in the 2023 presidential election.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Osinbajo is widely regarded as a political protégé of Tinubu, having served as Lagos State Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General under his governorship. There were also speculations that Tinubu played a key role in Osinbajo’s rise to the vice presidency under Buhari.
However, Osinbajo sparked political debate when he participated in the APC primary election in 2022 and chose not to step down for Tinubu. While Tinubu emerged as the party’s presidential candidate, Osinbajo finished a distant third.
Speaking on Edmund Obilo’s podcast, State Affairs, Akande explained that Osinbajo’s decision to contest was entirely within his rights.
He said, “I wanted everyone to be free to contest the election, but I didn’t want bitterness. I wanted discussions on issues, not personal attacks, because ultimately I wanted a Yoruba President. After several meetings, I told them that we should have only one candidate and asked anyone willing to step down to do so voluntarily. Some stepped down that evening, but Osinbajo didn’t, and I never discussed it with Tinubu after that. Osinbajo had every right to contest, and I don’t blame anyone for doing so.”
Akande also dismissed suggestions that Buhari opposed Tinubu, noting, “He didn’t tell me that. I asked him many questions, and he wanted me to understand that he did not instigate Osinbajo to contest. In his culture, when your mentor seeks a position, you normally do not challenge him. So when Osinbajo entered the race, Buhari was surprised but only wished him well.”
