Osun APC Accuses Obasanjo Of Hidden Agenda In Adeleke’s Praise
Osun APC Accuses Obasanjo Of Hidden Agenda In Adeleke’s PraiseThe Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed the recent commendation of Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration by former President Olusegun Obasanjo. In a press briefing held in Osogbo on Thursday, the APC’s Director of Media and Publicity, Kola Olabisi, criticized the governor’s administration for alleged financial mismanagement and failure across key sectors.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Reacting to Obasanjo’s praise of Adeleke’s performance during the inauguration of the Old Garage-Oke Fia-Lameco Osogbo dual carriageway, Olabisi dismissed the endorsement as insincere. He remarked, “Obasanjo once claimed that the Port Harcourt refinery wouldn’t work, but now it’s operational. So, whatever he says about Adeleke’s performance, it’s likely the opposite of what he truly means.”
The APC also accused the Adeleke administration of poor performance in education, agriculture, healthcare, and fiscal management. Olabisi pointed out the dismissal of 1,500 teachers employed by the previous government without any replacements, which he claimed has worsened the state’s education sector. “Adeleke’s government has proven to be an irredeemable failure in education. From sacking 1,500 teachers without replacing them to imposing exorbitant fees in public schools, it’s clear that the government doesn’t care about the people of Osun,” Olabisi said.
He further criticized the state’s agriculture and healthcare sectors, describing them as underperforming. “The government has done nothing to address food security or rehabilitate dilapidated health centers. Instead, they’ve been spending huge sums on repainting health facilities that were previously revamped under the Oyetola administration,” Olabisi added.
In addition, the APC spokesperson raised concerns about the high tuition fees at the newly established University of Ilesa. “Law students are charged N1.5 million per session, and nursing students are charged N1.2 million, while their counterparts at Osun State University pay between N300,000 and N500,000 for the same courses. If the government truly supports the university, why are students being burdened with such high fees?” Olabisi questioned.
The APC’s statements reflect growing tensions in the state as political parties continue to challenge the performance of Adeleke’s administration.
