The Senator representing Osun East Senatorial District, Francis Fadahunsi, has arrived at the headquarters of the Osun State Police Command in Osogbo following an invitation for questioning over his controversial remarks concerning members of the Accord Party.

The lawmaker arrived at about 2:35 p.m., accompanied by the Commissioner of Police in charge of election security, Samuel Erale.

Fadahunsi’s appearance followed a summons issued by the Osun State Police Command over a viral statement in which he was allegedly heard telling supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to “kill” members of the rival Accord Party ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.

The police invitation came amid widespread reactions on social media over the senator’s comments.

In a letter dated August 11, 2026, and signed by Erale, Fadahunsi was directed to report to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Osogbo at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 12.

According to The Cable, the police said the invitation was intended to enable the senator to explain the circumstances surrounding the remarks he allegedly made during an APC campaign programme in Ilesa on Tuesday.

The police letter reportedly stated that the invitation was based on information alleging that Fadahunsi made statements considered threatening, inciting and intimidating during the event, with the remarks subsequently circulating across electronic and social media platforms.

The senator was captured in a viral video making comments interpreted as urging his supporters to target members of the Accord Party ahead of the August 15 governorship election.

Fadahunsi has since clarified that his “kill Accord” statement was metaphorical, insisting that he was referring to defeating the party at the ballot box rather than physically attacking its members.
