Stay Away From Politics’ — Davido Reveals How He Responded To His Father’s Warning

Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has disclosed that his father advised him to stay away from politics and government affairs.

The singer made this known during a livestream with streamer Dravel, while discussing his involvement in the ongoing political activities surrounding the Osun State governorship election, where Governor Ademola Adeleke is seeking a second term on the Accord Party platform.

According to Davido, his father was concerned about his decision to become actively involved in politics. However, the singer said he assured him that he should not be worried because of his popularity and the support he enjoys among Nigerians.

Davido expressed confidence that his involvement would contribute to the desired outcome and that his camp would emerge victorious in the election.

Davido Accuses APC Supporters

The singer also alleged that some social media users were being paid ₦100,000 by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to promote the party on X.

Davido claimed that he was familiar with some of those allegedly involved in the arrangement.

He further accused the APC of being incapable of conducting a free and fair election, alleging that the party was aware it could lose the poll and was therefore resorting to violence.

The singer warned that such conduct would not be tolerated during Saturday’s election.

Davido said he was confident that his preferred camp would win the August 15 governorship election, adding that the victory would restore hope to Nigerians.

He said:

“My daddy doesn’t want me to attach myself with politics and government, but I told him not to worry that I’m Davido, I’m loved, we’re going to do it.”

The singer further alleged:

“All of una wey don collect 100k gig from APC on Twitter, I know you all. APC can’t have a free and fair election, they know they’ll lose and that’s why they use violence.”

Davido vowed that his camp would resist any attempt to disrupt the election, expressing confidence that they would celebrate victory after the poll.

“By next week, we’ll be victorious. We’ll give Nigerians hope. Osun State money will stay in Osun, and not Lagos or Abuja,” he added.
