Osun State Government Initiates Vehicle Retrieval Process From Appointees Of Former Governor Oyetola
The Osun State Government has issued a directive for the return of official vehicles that were taken by political appointees during the tenure of the Adegboyega Oyetola administration. The directive was outlined in a White Paper released by the state government, as announced by Olawale Rasheed, the spokesperson for Governor Ademola Adeleke…….CONTINUE READING
The White Paper, which covers various committees investigating issues raised by executive orders issued by Governor Adeleke in November 2022, has now been ratified after further review by a special committee chaired by the Governor. This step aligns with the Governor’s commitment to uphold due process, consultation, and compliance with the rule of law.
The approved White Papers address committees on Chieftaincy Matters, Contracts/MOU/Agreements Review, Solid Minerals, Assets Inventory and Recovery, Staff Audit/Appointments/Promotions Review, and the Education Summit.
In response to the alleged widespread looting of public buildings, including the official residences of the governor and deputy governor, as well as the disappearance of government vehicles, the Adeleke administration had previously accused political appointees from the Oyetola administration. To address this, the state government has mandated the establishment of a task force dedicated to recovering government vehicles that were taken during the previous administration.
It is noteworthy that the Adeleke administration, upon assuming office in November 2022, took measures to recover the properties, including withholding November salaries and severance packages of political appointees allegedly involved in the looting of public assets. The issuance of the White Paper and the establishment of a task force underscore the government’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and the retrieval of public resources.
