Dan Bello, a well-known critic of corrupt Nigerian politicians, has sparked widespread reactions after revealing that he renovated a public classroom in Kano for a mere N4 million. In a video shared on his X handle, the China-based whistleblower highlighted the deplorable state of education facilities in northern Nigeria, where corruption has left schools crumbling.
Speaking in Hausa, Bello explained that the renovation of the classroom in one of Kano’s primary schools was completed at a fraction of the cost typically quoted by the government for similar projects. His expose has reignited conversations about the staggering corruption in public infrastructure, with his video racking up 6 million views and sparking outrage across social media.
Take a look at some of the reactions:
Abakar: “If Kano has 10,000 classrooms, at N5m per class, that’s N50 billion! But no, we’d rather build a bridge for N27 billion.”
Aminu: “4M now? Two years ago, it would’ve been 2M. Six years ago, 1M. Imagine 16 years ago, this would’ve cost just 200k.”
Sarkin Mota: “Dan Bello took just 12 days and N5m to renovate this classroom to international standards. Meanwhile, it takes our government billions, and after 8 years, they’re still incomplete. We need to start holding governors accountable!.”
