In a joint statement, the chairmen expressed their support for Governor Seyi Makinde, commending his leadership and achievements since he took office. Oyo ALGON’s Public Relations Officer, Ibrahim Akintayo, framed the chairmen’s withdrawal as a gesture of solidarity with the governor’s stance on local government autonomy as determined by the Supreme Court.

Governor Makinde, after the ruling, held a meeting with stakeholders to form committees to review the implications of the Supreme Court’s judgment. He emphasized the need for proactive discussion and home-grown solutions to address potential gaps between the court’s decision and the Federal Constitution.

“The law must be upheld, but we also need to find solutions that ensure transparency and protect our people’s interests. When there’s a conflict, we must seek fair resolutions that prevent collateral damage,” the governor remarked.
