P-Square Under Fire: Daddy Showkey Reveals What Went Wrong With Africa’s Biggest Brand

Veteran Nigerian singer Daddy Showkey has criticised the prolonged rift between twin brothers Peter and Paul Okoye, popularly known as P-Square, saying their dispute has damaged a music brand that belonged to more than just the two brothers.

The music icon made the remarks during an interview with Goldmyne TV, where he expressed disappointment over the continued disagreement between the siblings.

According to Daddy Showkey, P-Square represented one of the biggest music brands to emerge from Africa, and its impact extended beyond the brothers themselves.

“P-Square destroyed the biggest brand that Africa produced. P-Square isn’t for them alone,” he said.

The veteran entertainer also stressed that musicians and other public figures owe much of their success to their fans and should consider the interests of their supporters when making major decisions.

Reflecting on his own career, he said his success was largely built by the people who supported his music over the years.

“As an entertainer, I can decide to lock myself in my room and celebrate my 50 years on stage. I am celebrating because it is the people that made me Daddy Showkey,” he said.

He argued that entertainers should not focus solely on personal interests or financial considerations while ignoring the people who contributed to their success.

Daddy Showkey further warned that the consequences of the brothers’ prolonged disagreement could become more apparent with time.

He urged Peter and Paul to prioritise their relationship as brothers and find a way to settle their differences, particularly for the sake of their children and family.

“Dragging themselves like this, the future will tell. No matter what, you guys are brothers. No matter what, you should look for a place to resolve things because you have children. Tomorrow you will carry this beef to your children,” he said.

His comments come amid the long-running public dispute involving Peter, Paul and their elder brother, Jude Okoye, who previously managed the music duo.

The disagreements among the brothers have continued to attract public attention, with fans and fellow entertainers weighing in on the future of the once-successful P-Square brand.
