Tope Osoba’s Death Takes Fresh Turn As Fiancé Reveals Where Actress Died

The fiancé of late Nollywood actress Temitope Osoba, Prophet Itunu Onadeko, has claimed that the actress died at a police station in Ikorodu, Lagos State.

Onadeko also dismissed speculation that Osoba’s death was caused by complications from breast cancer, saying she had been receiving treatment for the illness but that it was not responsible for her death.

The cleric made the claims on Saturday during an interview with Celestial Reality Check, the investigative media unit of the Celestial Church of Christ (CCC).

Onadeko, who is the Shepherd-in-Charge of CCC Onibuore Cathedral in Bogije, Ibeju-Lekki, also denied allegations that Osoba was poisoned or subjected to maltreatment before her death.

He said he was informed of her death by an unidentified caller around midnight.

“ It was a random person that called me around 12 am that she died in a police station in Ikorodu,” he said.

However, Onadeko said he could not identify the particular police station where the actress allegedly died.

How Osoba Allegedly Left Before Her Death

According to the cleric, Osoba had insisted on visiting a woman identified as Mrs Kehinde Osoba, who he said also runs a church.

He explained that the actress was accompanied by a hairdresser with whom she had been staying.

“She had insisted to see Mrs Kehinde Osoba. She also has a church, although she said she wanted to see me too,” he said.

Onadeko said he was unable to accompany them because of church activities.

He added that he remained in contact with Osoba and the hairdresser and was surprised when he later received news of her death.

“The hairdresser that Tope was sleeping in her place was the person that went with her. We maintained communication and she even posted ‘Ogo tuntun’ until I heard that she died in the police station,” he said.

He added that although he did not know the police station involved, he went to a nearby station to report himself.

Fiancé Disputes Cancer-Related Death

Osoba had previously spoken publicly about undergoing treatment and surgery for cancer.

Onadeko confirmed that she had battled the disease but maintained that cancer was not the cause of her death.

He recalled meeting her during a period when she was preparing for cancer surgery and said he had prayed for her.

“When I first met her, after I did a redemption prayer for her, she told me she wanted to do surgery for cancer. I prayed for her,” he said.

He also recalled that Osoba participated in a skit shortly before going to the hospital for her planned surgery.

Osoba’s family had previously cautioned the public against relying on unauthorised reports concerning the circumstances surrounding her death.

Cleric Denies Mismanaging Treatment Donations

Onadeko also rejected allegations that he controlled or diverted money donated to Osoba for her medical treatment.

He insisted that funds raised for the actress were paid into her own account and that he never had access to the money.

He also denied claims that the donations were used to construct or develop his church.

According to him, the church had existed for many years before he met Osoba.

“I met Tope like two years ago and the church has been there since 20 years ago. The church was complete before she even joined us,” he said.

On Alleged Maltreatment

The cleric further denied claims that Osoba was prevented from using her vehicle or subjected to degrading treatment.

He said the actress drove herself to Iperu shortly before her death, although he did not know who she had gone to meet there.

Onadeko said he had encouraged her to maintain contact with her maternal relatives, particularly because they were preparing for marriage.

He also disclosed that Osoba had struggled with smoking and said he had encouraged her to quit.

“She was dealing with a smoking habit, and I wanted her to leave it. All the church members know about her smoking habit,” he said.

Onadeko also denied claims that he and Osoba lived under coercive conditions.

He said they occasionally lent each other money and that there had been no situation in which either of them was forced to do anything against their will.

He further explained that the house where Osoba lived belonged to her uncle and was not a property they rented.

Fiancé Rejects Poisoning Allegation

Onadeko also dismissed allegations that Osoba had consumed poison before her death.

According to him, the actress had stopped attending the church about three weeks before she died.

“She left the church about three weeks before her death,” he said.

The cleric added that he had not contacted most of Osoba’s relatives since her death, saying one of her uncles, identified as Taiwo, was upset with him when he called.

The circumstances surrounding Osoba’s death remain subject to clarification, while the claims made by her fiancé have not, from the information provided, been independently established.
