The grieving parents of 22-year-old nurse Ginika Judith Okoro are demanding answers following her sudden death at the residence of her boyfriend, Charles Ndukwu, in Ezeogba, Awaka, Owerri North Local Government Area of Imo State. Mrs. Caroline Nneji, the mother of the deceased nurse, spoke with PUNCH Metro, urging the Nigeria Police and state authorities to thoroughly investigate the circumstances surrounding her daughter’s demise.
According to Mrs. Nneji, her daughter, who operated a chemist shop and often provided in-home medical care, passed away unexpectedly while visiting Charles on a fateful Sunday evening. Devastated by the loss of their only daughter, the family recounted how Charles informed them of Ginika’s unconscious state late that evening, rushing her to Edochie Clinic where she was pronounced dead by attending medical staff.
“The suspect claimed Ginika became unconscious after consuming pepper soup he had purchased for her,” explained Mr. Nneji, Ginika’s stepfather, adding that Charles has since been apprehended and detained by police pending further investigation.
Expressing their profound grief, the bereaved parents emphasized the importance of a thorough inquiry by law enforcement and the state government to uncover the truth behind Ginika’s untimely death. They appealed for transparency and justice, stressing their irreparable loss and the need for closure.
In response to inquiries, ASP Henry Okoye, the Imo State Police Public Relations Officer, affirmed that investigations are underway, assuring the public and the family of the deceased of the police force’s commitment to uncovering the circumstances surrounding Ginika’s mysterious death.
The family’s quest for justice underscores the need for a comprehensive investigation into the tragic incident, with hopes of finding solace and closure amidst their profound sorrow.
