PDP Gears Up For 99th NEC Bombshell – Big Decisions Loom

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially scheduled its 99th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting for May 27, 2025.

This was revealed in a statement released on Thursday by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba.

The announcement serves as a formal reminder for all constitutionally recognized NEC members to attend the meeting, which will be held at the PDP National Secretariat.

According to the statement, “Members and the public will recall that during the 600th meeting of the National Working Committee (NWC) on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, it was resolved that the 99th NEC meeting be held on Tuesday, May 27, 2025. This was also affirmed by Acting National Chairman, H.E. Amb. Iliya Damagum, during his media briefing the same day.”

The PDP described the upcoming NEC session as a critical milestone in its internal political calendar and urged full participation.

This development follows the party’s appointment of former Senate President Bukola Saraki on May 11, 2025, to lead a high-powered reconciliation committee aimed at mending internal party divisions ahead of the NEC gathering.

The decision was taken during a closed-door strategy meeting at the residence of Bauchi State Governor and PDP Governors’ Forum Chairman, Bala Mohammed, in Abuja.

Among those in attendance was Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, though he exited the meeting without speaking to reporters.

Speaking after the meeting, Governor Mohammed explained that the reconciliation team would engage with aggrieved party members and leaders to restore unity and stability before the NEC session and the upcoming national convention.

“We brought together former governors and party elders to benefit from their experience. We’re confident their input will help ease tensions and reposition the party,” Mohammed said.
