The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has issued a strong warning to its members against engaging in anti-party activities, as the party intensifies preparations for the upcoming Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Area Council elections.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The warning was delivered on Tuesday during a certificate presentation ceremony held at the PDP’s FCT secretariat in Abuja, where local council election candidates received their official nomination documents.
Representing PDP National Chairman Umar Damagum, the party’s North-Central Vice Chairman, Abdulrahman Mohammed, urged candidates and party leaders to demonstrate unwavering loyalty, emphasizing that those unwilling to commit should step down immediately.
“Any act of misconduct will no longer be tolerated. If anyone feels unprepared for this responsibility, they should step aside without delay so we can find a replacement,” Mohammed stated.
He further disclosed that the PDP had reactivated its disciplinary structures to take action against members found collaborating with opposition parties or working against the party’s interests.
“We now have effective disciplinary committees at both state and local government levels. Any member caught campaigning for or coordinating with other political parties will face disciplinary action for anti-party conduct,” he warned.
Mohammed also reassured members that the PDP would vigorously defend its mandate in the upcoming polls. Speaking on behalf of Damagum, he pledged that every vote cast for the PDP would be protected and counted.
“No one will tamper with our election outcome. With God on our side, we will be present at polling units, oversee vote counting, and ensure that the true winners are declared,” he affirmed.
FCT PDP Chairman Ismaila Dogara called on members to put aside internal divisions and unite for victory at the polls.
“We must reconcile, bridge our differences, and march forward as a united, formidable party,” Dogara urged.
Adding his voice, the Chairman of the PDP Reconciliation Committee in the FCT, Hassan Sokedebo, criticized the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), asserting that the PDP’s internal challenges were minor compared to the APC’s deep-rooted issues.
