Obi, alongside some Southeast leaders, visited Jonathan at his residence on Monday, where discussions centered on Nigeria’s future and the political direction of the country ahead of the next election cycle.
Speaking after the meeting, the former Anambra governor explained that the consultation was driven by the need to engage key national leaders on how to reposition Nigeria and unite stakeholders toward building a better nation.
According to him, the talks focused on issues of unity, security, economic productivity, and inclusive governance, stressing that Nigeria needs leadership rooted in competence, character, capacity, and compassion rather than personal ambition.
Obi argued that the 2027 elections should be viewed as more than a routine political contest, describing them as a crucial opportunity to redirect the nation’s trajectory. He maintained that the focus should be on addressing the concerns of ordinary Nigerians, from education and business growth to security and national stability.
He also expressed optimism that through sincere dialogue, collective purpose, and committed leadership, Nigeria can overcome its challenges and achieve meaningful progress.
