According to PETROAN spokesperson Joseph Obele, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL)-owned refineries are now operational and supplying petroleum products to marketers.

In a statement on Saturday, Obele confirmed, “PETROAN members are currently loading petroleum products, including Dual-Purpose Kerosene (DPK), Automotive Gas Oil (AGO), and Premium Motor Spirit (PMS).”

He noted that the revival of these refineries has intensified market competition, which is expected to drive down fuel prices.

“As Nigerians push for lower petrol prices, it is evident that competition plays a crucial role in influencing price reductions,” he stated.

Obele further highlighted the benefits of refinery operations, including the elimination of adulterated diesel and kerosene from the market.

He also pointed out that the refineries’ functionality has led to a decline in crude oil theft, a major factor that has previously hindered Nigeria from meeting its OPEC production targets.

“With increased crude oil production, Nigeria is poised to generate more revenue and stabilize the naira,” Obele added.
