APC Chieftain Lukman: ‘Opposition Leaders Bigger Failures Than Tinubu, Buhari, Jonathan

Former APC National Vice Chairman (North-West), Salihu Lukman, has accused top opposition figures and politically displaced leaders of contributing to Nigeria’s current political woes.

In a statement on Sunday, Lukman argued that many of these leaders were key players in past administrations, responsible for the very issues they now condemn. He advised that instead of positioning themselves as alternatives, they should step back and focus on building a strong coalition to strengthen Nigeria’s democracy.

Lukman did not hold back, insisting that several politicians seeking leadership today were complicit in past government failures. He warned that their past political missteps continue to haunt the nation and urged them to take responsibility rather than pretending to be the solution.

He emphasized the need for coalition-building over personal ambition, stressing that Nigeria requires strong institutions, not just individual politicians.

“Given their track records, they are likely to perform worse than former Presidents Goodluck Jonathan, Muhammadu Buhari, and Bola Tinubu,” Lukman stated.

He accused them of displaying intolerance and mismanaging their political transitions, leading to their loss of control over political structures in their states.

“Some of them, due to their past influential roles in failed administrations, should humbly step aside and focus on building a solid political coalition. Instead, they continue to engage in an unrepentant display of shame,” he added.
