PFN officials asserted that the alleged press release misrepresented their stance on the matter, misleading the public. The organization has strongly condemned this act, emphasizing the dangers of misinformation and its potential to erode public trust.

In response to the incident, PFN has called on authorities to investigate the matter and take legal action against the spread of false information. As of now, VeryDarkMan has not issued any public statement regarding the accusations.

In a formal statement, PFN clarified: “The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) issues a formal disclaimer regarding the recent press release circulating on social media. This release, which allegedly addresses the controversy involving Mercy Chinwo and VDM, was not issued by PFN and should be disregarded.

“We are aware of the harm such misinformation can cause and take this opportunity to remind our members and the public to verify the authenticity of news before sharing it. PFN disowns this fake press release and urges caution in further disseminating it,” the statement, signed by PFN National Secretary Bishop David Bakare, read.

This controversy underscores growing concerns over digital misinformation and the need for influencers to exercise responsibility in content dissemination.
