Police Detain 52 Suspected Cultists In Ogun State Initiation Bust

According to Odutola, the arrests were made based on credible intelligence received by the police regarding the planned cult initiation. The Assistant Commissioner of Police, Ota, upon receiving this information, swiftly mobilized officers to the location. The suspected cult members, identified as belonging to the Supreme Buccaneers Confraternity, also known as Alora, were found gathered at the hotel.

Upon the police’s arrival, the suspected cultists attempted to barricade the venue by locking the gate. However, the law enforcement officers, led by the SWAT Commander, managed to overpower them, resulting in the arrest of 52 suspects. Some individuals, however, were able to evade capture.

The successful operation took place on January 21, 2024, around 00:45 hrs, as reported by the DPO Ifo. The joint effort of the SWAT Commander and the local police teams led to the apprehension of the suspects, including some females who were present at the scene.

Various exhibits, including needles, T-shirts with Alora inscriptions, three private vehicles, and 58 mobile phones, were recovered from the suspects. Among those arrested were individuals such as Adigun Ayomide and Obanla Abayomi. The arrested suspects have since been charged to court to face legal consequences for their alleged involvement in cult-related activities.
