Police Discover Illegal Gun Manufacturing Operation Run By Father And SonsOperatives from the Akwa Ibom State Police Command have uncovered a gun manufacturing factory being run by a father and his sons. State Commissioner of Police, CP Joseph O. Eribo, revealed the details during a press briefing at the Command Headquarters in Ikot Akpan Abia, Uyo, on Monday. He stated that the factory was located based on reliable information received by the police.
Following the tip-off, police swiftly raided the facility, arresting one suspect, David Nse Emmanuel. However, the father, Akpan Nse Emmanuel, and other family members involved in the operation managed to flee the scene. During the operation, authorities recovered several firearms, including seven newly-made single-barrel guns, five double-barrel guns, a special steel double-trigger pistol, a broken single-barrel gun, a trigger-handle walking stick knife, and numerous cut iron pipes used for making gun barrels.
Eribo confirmed that the factory had been supplying firearms to criminals. He assured the public that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
In addition to the gun factory bust, the police also arrested a suspected child trafficker, Promise Boniface, who had abducted five children from a single mother. Fortunately, the children were rescued unharmed and have been reunited with their family.
