Police Nabs Father For Selling Son For N400,000 In…….
The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has announced the arrest of Gabriel Ekpiri, a resident of Ekit Itam Akpan Obong in Itu local government area of the state, for allegedly selling his nine-year-old son for N400,000.
According to a statement released by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Odiko Macdon, and provided to journalists in Uyo on Tuesday, the suspect was apprehended due to the swift intervention of a patrol team on a routine duty.
During his confession, the suspect attributed his actions to the influence of the devil and ecoomic hardship, as stated by the PPRO.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Olatoye Durosinmi, strongly condemned the act, labeling it barbaric and unacceptable, as mentioned by the PPRO.
In other news, the Police chief has recently honored two Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCP) currently serving in the command. DCP Baba Audu, the Area Commander of Eket command, and DCP Lawal Mani from the Department of Operations were both decorated with their new ranks.
