CP Danmamman reported that on August 4, 2024, at around 7:00 p.m., police officers from the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, part of the SCID Minna, intercepted a red Toyota Corolla with registration number DKA 877 HJ on Maikunkele-Tegina Road. The vehicle, carrying three occupants including the driver, was stopped based on intelligence received.
During the stop, the occupants fled under the pretense of needing to relieve themselves. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed 15 pump-action rifles and 30 cartridges concealed in a sack.
The Commissioner stated that efforts are ongoing to identify the owner of the vehicle and apprehend the fleeing suspects. He emphasized that if the suspects and the vehicle owner are captured, they will be prosecuted in court.
The investigation is currently being conducted by the State Criminal Investigations Department (SCID) in Minna.
