The Labour Party (LP) has exempted Abia State Governor Alex Otti from its governorship screening ahead of his bid for a second term.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

This was disclosed by the party’s National Chairman and head of the screening committee, Nenadi Usman, while briefing journalists on the outcome of the screening exercise for aspirants.

Usman explained that the party had already purchased the nomination forms for Otti and also granted him a waiver from undergoing the screening process. She added that, given his position as a key leader and prominent figure in the party, he was not expected to pay for the forms.

She questioned whether it would be appropriate for the party’s leading figure to undergo the same screening process as other aspirants, noting that the Labour Party had taken a different approach in his case.

According to her, “We waived the screening for him. We provided the forms and presented them to him, making it clear that no payment was required. We even held a presentation ceremony, which included his form and those of other aspirants.”

The party said the decision was a recognition of Otti’s performance in office and his contribution to promoting Labour Party values.

Usman further praised him as a strong ambassador of the party, noting that his administration in Abia State reflects the party’s principles of fairness, equal opportunity, and social justice.

She added that the waiver and free nomination forms were intended to encourage him to continue delivering effective governance to the people of the state.
