Political Drama As Senator Buba’s Aide Quits Over Alleged Disrespect
Abba Aliyu Tilde, a Senior Legislative Aide to Senator Shehu Buba Umar, representing Bauchi South Senatorial District, has resigned from his position with immediate effect, citing what he described as a breakdown in communication, trust and mutual respect in his working relationship with the lawmaker.
Tilde announced his resignation in a letter dated September 6, 2026, explaining that his decision was influenced by a series of developments that made him feel his contributions and responsibilities were no longer adequately recognised.
According to Bush Radio Academy, Tilde said one of the incidents that particularly affected him was a recent visit by Senator Buba to his ward, where the lawmaker reportedly met with residents without informing him beforehand.
The former aide said he considered the decision to exclude him from the visit disrespectful, given his position and established relationship with members of the community. He maintained that he deserved to be informed and carried along in matters involving his ward.
Tilde stressed that his resignation was not connected to the recent allegations linking Senator Buba to banditry and terrorism. He made no criminal allegation against the senator and did not cite the ongoing controversy as a reason for his departure.
Instead, he said his decision was based on the deterioration of their professional relationship and what he described as repeated experiences that left him feeling that his efforts were no longer appreciated.
The former aide said a productive working relationship in politics and public service should be founded on communication, trust, mutual respect and an understanding of each party’s responsibilities.
According to him, those essential principles had gradually disappeared from his relationship with the senator, making it difficult for him to continue in the position.
Tilde described his resignation as the most honourable option available to him under the circumstances. He added that he was leaving with a clear conscience after giving his best during his time as the senator’s senior legislative aide.
Despite the circumstances surrounding his departure, Tilde expressed appreciation for the opportunity to have worked with Senator Buba and wished the lawmaker success in his future endeavours.
