On Thursday, the Sole Administrator of Rivers, Rear Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd.), officially handed over power to the reinstated governor after President Bola Tinubu ended the six-month emergency rule. In his farewell message, Ibas urged residents to support Fubara as he resumes leadership of the oil-rich state.

Arise Television’s Rivers correspondent, Friday Olokor, reported that although the atmosphere in Port Harcourt is calm, Fubara’s absence has created “a vacuum in governance.”

Residents remain anxious as the governor’s exact whereabouts are unknown. He further noted that the Rivers State House of Assembly remains divided, with rival factions meeting separately, deepening political instability. Olokor stressed that citizens, who have borne the brunt of the crisis, are now looking to both sides of the Assembly to reconcile and restore stability.
