The Presidency has strongly rebuffed the opposition coalition rallying under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), calling it a “desperate and incoherent” attempt to dislodge President Bola Tinubu from office.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
In a statement on Saturday in Abuja, Presidential spokesperson Sunday Dare advised the opposition to abandon their ambition for 2027 and redirect their energy toward the 2031 general elections.
According to Dare, the coalition’s efforts are rooted not in national interest, but in greed and opportunism.
“There is no vacancy in Aso Rock until 2031,” he stated emphatically.
He praised President Tinubu’s ongoing tenure, saying it has ushered in a new era of bold reforms, stability, and visionary leadership—despite being less than two years in office.
As the opposition works to form a “Third Force” to challenge the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dare made it clear that Tinubu’s administration stands unshaken and unmatched in political influence and democratic legitimacy.
“The presidency rightfully belongs to this region, and it will remain so until 2031,” he said.
He accused disgruntled political figures of using the ADC as a platform for what he termed “political harlotry,” insisting they lack the credibility and structure required to form a formidable alternative.
Drawing a contrast with the historic APC merger of 2013, Dare emphasized that the current opposition bloc lacks the discipline, unity, and grassroots following needed to replicate such success.
“In 2013, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu built a viable political movement out of patience and strategy—even with governors under his influence, he waited and focused on nation-building. None of today’s opposition leaders can command that level of loyalty, not even to lead a council, let alone a country,” he remarked.
Dare further dismissed the coalition’s claims of political injustice as “fictional tales” meant to deceive the public.
“There’s no injustice to correct—just a selfish desire to hijack national resources. Nigerians are too smart to fall for such distractions,” he stated.
Earlier, the Presidency had described the opposition’s embrace of the ADC as a “laughable imitation” lacking any ideological depth.
“Those eyeing 2027 should come back in 2031,” Dare concluded.
“President Tinubu’s mandate is firm, and Nigerians have seen the proof of his dedication and progress.”
